Very interesting article. Thanks for the heads up. I think that he now feels secure enough, and is respected enough,to come out and say what he really believes. Its a pity that many many people are just not listening.

We can't destroy the planet, we can't save the planet. It will be here a long time after we're gone, happily doing its own thing.
Don't forget that all generations have had their own things to worry about, for my parents it was global nuclear war, for their parents it was the rise of facism.
I just hope my kids can worry about something they can influence.

After watching the discovery channel last week i dont really care about global warming(excuse to charge us more for things in my opinion) because there are other things that will wipe out ALL life on the planet anyway, 1 THE SUN dying,2, the moon moving away from the earth. We cant change them so why worry, Global warming has happened before, will happen again this then leads to ice ages,eg sea's flooded with fresh water,the gulf stream stops North hemisphere cools down voila Ice age.
I don't see what the big hoopla is all about with global climate change it did this 9000-13,000 years ago or their abouts its a cycle of the planet get a grip not like we will be able to stop it hell we cant even stop a hurricane let alone a world climate change get over it....

Oh, and I agree, adapt or perish, but adaptation takes many forms........like stop destroying the habitats we live in, stop wasting natural resources, grow up and act like the responsible adults we claim to be.

yeah, I'll go along with that. Climate change is a factor of natural selection (even if it's man made), whether we can evolve is upto us.
Climate change isn't man made. We weren't here the other few dozen/hundred times its happened. Why would we be to blame for this one? It has more to do with what goes on in our galaxy than anything else and interesting things are happeneng. It will peak at the end of 2012 then settle into whatever it will be afterwards.

Not trying to argue here but what qualifications as a climatologist do you have?
Just trying to work out if I should believe the general consensus that those I do know of or some (quite friendly admittedly) random internet bloke
just me with an overgrown neck warmer used for face camo and warmth in the bush helps when its -17...
man will waste what wildlife and natural resources we have what do you think its gonna be like when in 35 years we have 9 billion on the planet nature will be the last thing we will worry about its just the way of things, we will all end up like easter islanders its just reality of human existence...
look at our very short history on the planet its in our genes and mental make up we can't escape that reality....
all the parks that the US setup well they have signed into law exploration and raping of the land as company's see fit, do you think other countries wont do the same when a natural resource is their for the taking?
developed countries doing their best at removing weapons from the population if you think its for protecting you from yourself na its to protect them from all of us.....

2012 is just the end of their calender just like the one in my day planer that has a future calendar you can use till 2011 you got to end it somewere...

Though most of life has been dedicated to history of one form or another including climate shifts in the past..The mayan calendar is divided up into 6 ages of 5200 years each. They say each age ends with a climate shift.
5200years ago there was a climate shift world wide It happened very quickly

While i have no "official" education past A level i have been studying History and languages for 22 years. Surely that has to count for something? I speak 6 current languages and 3 extinct ones yet i have no language qualification, Qualifications dont mean that much to me. They show you can copy and repeat a lot but its not the same as experience. So while i have no climatalogical expierience directly, i do have the ability to read the history leading up to other events.
Its all astrological though are climate shifts which is why the mayans can predict them.

We are directly between the sun and the centre of the galaxy, at a time when the sun is kicking flares out all over the place. We are between the flares and the centre of gravity. Flares get pulled to us. The least that will happen will be northern lights visible world wide. The Worst will probably be along the lines of the power grid knocked out and possible surface scorching. Even NASA/science do not know exactly what will happen, only that something is likely ( which is where all this 2012 stuff comes from)

I'm pretty convinced that we are contributing to climate change, but the thing is it doesn't really matter. The real problem is the ridiculous rate we are using our natural resources and the effluents we produce as a result. We need to be less wasteful.
