I think alot of us have been thinking that for quite some time :D

I got one of the first batch made.

Fantastic bit of kit. Warm, windproof, hugely breathable fairly well rain proof for a while but fast drying so not a problem when it does get soaked.
4 Huge zipped pockets with a good fold away adjustable hood.

My personal favourite thing about it is what initially appears to be the very baggy cuffs. With the velcro on it allows you to roll up the sleeves easily to allow for cooling when say chopping wood.

I can't say just how good this jacket it is (though i had a go!).

Worth every penny.:)

Quite a few of us have been saying that too!

I bought one last year at the moot (thanks Tony for the discount). It has surplanted my goretex in all areas of use. Not only that but people ask where to get one, they do jump at the price mind, its stood up to howling gales on the coast, rain and slush.

I have washed it by throwing it in on a cold wool silk/wash with about half a teaspoon of detergent. I then repeated the wash to make sure the detergent was gone. Worked a dream

Well worth the price.

I wish I could afford one as well!:D
Tony made me give it back after the test period.......:(

Surely not! Thats half the payment for doing the review. You need to learn to blag a bit better than that. I know of someone who blagged most of his kit under the pretence of reviewing it.
It even fitted the fat bloke in sporting shooter:D

Sometimes my charirtable side takes over.........
The things you do for love (in the non- sexual meaning of the word in this case!) eh?

What is the difference with one of these and the West Winds Airedale jacket please?
Obviously the badges, but in the whole what?

These are the primary and most noticable differences:

The Airedale and cairngorm both have a full nylon lining with elasticated cuffs, the BCUK jacket doesn’t and uses military smock style single velcro tab cuffs, large enough to be rolled up beyond the elbows.

The hood design on the BCUK jacket is unique to the BCUK jacket and neither the Airedale or cairngorm have features such as the volume adjustment method or wired peak.

The chest pockets on the BCUK are much larger than those of both the Airedale and the cairngorm, reaching right around under each armpit.

The lower hand pockets on the BCUK jacket are micro fleece lined, a feature not present on either the Airedale or the cairngorm.

The shoulders of the BCUK jacket consist of two layers of ventile, where only one is present in both the cairngorm and the Airedale.

having used the jacket now for a year, I cant say I can find a fault. The one thing I have noticed is a that it is a LOT less sweaty thany anything else I have.

I am so impressed with ventile I am going to get a pair of US BDU trousers copied in the stuff when out in india.
