Started off as a need to replace the hub oil seal and the pads; when I got in there, dirt had got into the oil seal and worn grooves in the stub axle - so decided to replace all including bearings and on both sides. Total job <£200 :)
I had the front nearside oil seal go and lubricate the pads. Made braking a little more exciting than I'd have liked. Of course there's a seal the other side of the CV which probably went decades ago. In theory the CV is supposed to have grease, not oil, which might not have fouled the pads so quickly. Ho hum!

Lixada spirit burner £4.63 shipped from China, plus time he’ll for child labour I imagine. :D

About 10 days late but but hey.

About 2/3 the size of by old SVEA and 100lbs lighter….. A little narrow to fit the BPL trivet I have. Nothing a tiny mod won’t solve.

I couldn’t see any wicking material inside but filed it half way up and lit. 1/9 water/meths. Bloomed after 3.5 minutes. Gentle boil going on a half full aluminium M40/44 pot with lid on about 14 minutes.

Rolling boil at 18 minutes.

Still going now. Times approximate as I didn’t get the time going smoothly and I fidgeted with it as it’s a new toy.

32 minutes all in.

Apple peeling and coring machine, only a fiver from my local charity shop. I don't think it's ever been used as the box was still sealed. Could have done with this a month or two ago, but its ready for next year's harvest.

Ah, just like that, eh?

Spent afternoon in Cotswold outdoors trying on and discarding rucksacks.

I still dont have a rucksack, but mollified them, (They were very helpful, as usual, and I now know how to adjust a rucksack...) by buying 15M paracord.

Which had to be skirmished for in the back storeroom.

And afterwards I bought in the local charity shops

a) A toy reindeer that looks like a reindeer. (I am very fussy on this).
b) A half sized demi john. (rare)
c) Craghoppers trousers that fit well.
d) Brand new ladies motocycling long johns that I suspect are too small, but they are good quality and I am sure someone here might well fit them HINT).

Another billhook off the evil bay.

I've wanted a Llandeilo pattern billhook for a bit as that's the one local to the area I'm in, however they don't come up for sale very often (and can be pricey when they do). This one looked on the pictures like it was very rusty, but it was cheap enough to take a risk and bid on. I figured that removing the rust by electrolysis and replacing the handle would be needed, but that was OK. Five days later, as the only bidder (at minimum bid £15), I won it. It came from a seller (house clearance type place) in the general vicinity.

To my surprise, the condition was MUCH better than the photos suggested, the handle was tight and not cracked, and the edge not destroyed by attempts at "renovation." I gave it a quick touch-up with the scythe stones and gave it a try this afternoon, all good. Yes it needs a bit of a clean up and a proper sharpen, but I'm a happy 'Cat.

And when you've used it all up you can make a little stove with the tin :)
Well yes, and it does hold cotton pads with the vaseline between the layers rather tidily, but as Kev said, when it warms up a bit it's inclined to leak.
I think that's why I prefer the tube....well that and it's cleaner to use.

Not as appealling as the wee tin though......

Geckowear waterproof socks. 50% off today.
I bought the knee length stealth socks. I have ankle length ones and they are great. I have worn them all day walking 24km and no problems. Totally waterproof and dry feet.

They look good. :) I didn’t know the brand before so thank you.

Sluban (Lego) BT-7 tank. It’s definitely for the kids…

A long handled totianuim spoon for when I have diner with the In-laws. ;)

And a little Chinese sewing kit. With some items to compare size. The right hand pot is UCO hurrincane one so fairly chunky.

Contents included and pretty neat. I may add a heavier needle and switch one spool to nylon.

I bought one of those sewing sets a while ago. It's not a bad little kit is it?

An old external frame rucksack off the evil bay.

Not only was the external frame type I had as a youngster the most comfortable rucksack to carry compared to anything I had afterwards, but also it means I can remove the bag and replace it with something more suitable for chucking hedge laying tools into.

He doesnt like the insides of my nice holdall though.

Didn't buy it today but put it up today - Electric standing desk bought on Black Friday. It's a basic model but serves it 's purpose of getting me up onto my feet more rather than making me stiffer and stiffer.
I also bought a Fezibo balance board to stand on, it's so much better than just standing on the floor.

Spent the afternoon standing up, starting to ache a little but I'm very impressed so far and typing this is just as easy as sitting down, maybe a bit more so!
