After a bit of advice from the West Country folk, if possible?

We are staying in a little National Trust Cottage for four days next week, and I’ve been compiling a list of places we should visit. The Cottage is just north of Barnstaple, so anywhere in Exmoor or north Devon coast is fair game.

Are there any wonderful spots or places we should visit? I’m thinking lovely isolated valleys, industrial heritage sites, lovely pubs, unspoilt little fishing harbours etc. We have the Tarka Line as a wet weather backup, and Arlington Court and Watersmeet are probably already on the list with our NT membership. I’d love to have a chance of seeing a wild otter - is that still feasible in Exmoor?

Bearing in mind that we will have our little 1 3/4 year old, and my wife is six months pregnant, so nothing too strenuous! Hilly walks are fine, potholing is probably not! I can always dash out for a few hours if there is something unmissable and bushcrafty...

Thanks in advance for recommendations...

Heddon valley is great a nice flat walk to the beach and the hunters inn pub there is great. Combe martin is also werth a trip fantastic crabfishing in the rock pools. Woolacombe bay has a massive beach and the red barn pub is great. You must also drive from hunters inn along the coast road to lynton one of the most picturesque roads in briton i think. You can get a boat ride from ilfacombe along the coast.

Valley of Rocks is a bit of a drive, but awesome. My best advice is dress warm, next week looks to be a real chiller.

Valley of Rocks is great, you will see the wild goats too!
Lynton is very sweet and you can take the funicular railway down to Lynton at the bottom.
Grab a pint and a bite to eat at The Rising Sun at the very sweet harbour there.
