Ok so this is a bit of a mine field. I'm looking to get some traditional kit and will need something to carry it all in. To keep with the tradition I'm looking for something in canvas and leather but the question is which one and why.
I had a Duluth Wanderer a couple of years ago but found it a little too big for my needs.
Ideally I would like side pockets but not a deal breaker if I can't. I'm reasonably well built across the chest and shoulders so it will need to fit comfortably.

Any suggestions would be welcome,
I know the M39 is a popular choice but looking for other options.

+1 for the Norgy pack. Not everyone's cup of tea I find mine really comfy and they are superb value. They are worth a punt at the price. Last time I looked
Military Mart had some.

Make it a Frost river mate- I'm on the look for a Nesmuk, sounds like it could suit your needs!

Here's a review of my Isle Royale:

It can go big or small- canoe or backpack excellent piece of kit and I have an will always use frost river - top company!

You can order the packs through woodland ways or direct- is used both services and both were good :).

Hope this helps!

I like the Frost River packs but for the amount of use it will get its just overkill for me.
Looked at the Nessmuk pack but with small packs like that there are comfort issues for bigger guys. I like the style though with the two smaller pockets at one side(I'm a bit OCD when packing).

It sure is a lovely pack, but the price :yikes:!

Looked at that one and quite like it but not seen people talk about them as to how good they are or how comfy.

Got one ~ I like it but there's not much in the way of shoulder strap adjustment so, initially, it needs playing with. Expands from roughly 60 to 100L and is guaranteed to make your back sweat by the bucketful. Lid detaches and can be used as a pillow if needed.

Sub no-frills but quite comfy to carry ;) Mine now does duty as the carrier of my heavy MOD camp cot kit.

Oh brill, I'm sweating just sitting here typing so that's gonna be fun :o Also a little too big I think. 35/40 is more than enough for me.
