So my nearest and dearest presented me with a 1939 hardback edition of Thoreau's Walden
With woodcut-engarvings by Thomas Nason.
Beautiful!
Any of you's cats get lucky?

Pah! No chance, got the same as I had last year and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before.... Not bitter, just disappointed... again. Oh well. :dunno:

Did get a Skype call from the youngest Daughter just now "Hi Dad, Happy Father's day". So it's not a total wash out.

Nice prezzie Chris, really happy for you. Gonna Google those details now and see what it's about.

edit: Looks very good!

Nice prezzie Chris, not read the whole thing but have picked it up a couple of times at a friends. Not the nice posh version you got though. You must be made up.

Aaron, at least the youngest called and the days not over yet! (They may want something if they call though - that's kids:rolleyes:).

Thanks for the offer. I just run a search through my extensive collection of books that I have on my PC for my Kindle and found I have 2 copies of Walden or Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau. Should be a good read then. (If anyone wants a epub or Kindle copy of it, drop me a PM with your email address, the offer's there.)

Thanks for the Father's day wishes, Chris, just knowing both my girls are happy and have good partners that love them makes me feel happy.

No lie in for me, up at 6 to bottle feed my 5yo sons goat kid, to be fair he normally does the feed but was still asleep after a 3mile bike ride last night!.

Not a massive prise fund for me, a pound of toffee and 2 pairs of socks!!

A lie in, cup of tea & crumpets & being terrorised by my two little rascals. Don't get much better than that :)

Sadly it was the same for me as well... without a phone call or card from either :(

So I went and did a bit of retail therapy and bought myself a nice little neck knife by Ben Orford :)

Hey Mesquite and Biker maybe some of us young vital bushcrafters could adopt you older fatherly types and send you a card and you could share your stories and experience with us! :joke:

What knife did you buy, he makes some lovely things.

Edit: Nice knife, picture hadn't appeared before.

I'll let you adopt Biker Gb :)

As for the knife it's what Ben call's his Neck Kniffor me :)I bought this one as the handle felt just right go

How to make me feel like an old fart on one short lesson. :lmao:

"This one time, at band camp...."

Not as old and crusty as me though Aaron :p

I'll let you keep Gb as you'll have a much longer meaningful relationship with your newly discovered bushcrafter son than I would. Just think, you'll be able to teach him about the birds and bees with all your drawings

Biker, take him up on that and pm him a kit wants list as present suggestions.

If you don't, I might.

That's a great idea Mike... :)

Anyone else want to adopt a bushcraft dad?

Sad thing is Harvestman, by a couple of months I'm older than you, and Mesquite and Bikes only have a few years on us. (And I could hardly be described as vital these days - half bionic now).
