Oh thats pretty :)

So now you need to build a saw vice, get a nice saw set with the right TPI set, get a jointer.....oh the fun you are going to have ;)

lol, looking forward to it. Its already sharpened, so i have time to have a play before it needs touching up. I have a nice Yew crotch thats got hundreds of tiny twigs growing from it all over. Can't wait to get its teeth stuck into that :D

Where can i get the above mentioned setter and jointer?

Would i be correct in assuming a hidden humour in the fun i'm going to have? :)

No, its great! Its a whole other parcel of skills relating to making cutting tools sharp......

You need a plier type set for that saw - a hammer anvil type is necessary for crosscuts. A saw clamp / vice is easy to make with some 18mm ply and some bolts and washers.

I've never jointed a panel saw....but I assume you must have to? Otherwise how do you get the tooth height evened out of you damage some?

If you find out how many teeth per inch (tpi) the saw has, I'll look for a suitable set for you. We can research jointing and if its necessary

Its 4.5tpi mate.

Never had much call to do any setting yet, i just touch up the crosscut freehand with a small file. So yeah, i need to learn all that. :)

Cheers mate, appreciated. I'll get one in the near future. :)

I don't think I have a spare in 4tpi, but I'll look through the toolbox tomorrow just in case - I'll keep my eyes open for a second hand one as well. I'll research what sort of a jointer is needed

Ok mate, cheers :) The one in the link you sent me us adjustable between 4 and 12 tpi. I have another saw coming (was expecting it today too) which is 8tpi and for crosscutting seasoned stuff, general purpose really i think, so that adjustable one would do both. Its only £25, hardly bank breaking :)

Was looking on the woodsmith store yesterday, and ya know those 3ft crosscuts we have... they do leather cases for em now... they cost £40 more than the saw does....lol.
