How do you get around it??

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Hi guys, firstly, let me point ou this isnt a thread for sympathy lol, its genuine question as to how you get around a problem like mine!!

3 weeks ago I had an operation to have an abcess removed on my lower back (top of the butt crack lol)
They have to leave it an open wound so that it granulates, which means daily trips to the nurse and the district nurse (bless them) at the weekends coming to my house!!

Its starting to drive me very slowly mad being stuck indoors off of work, all I seem to be doing is day dreaming of being outside and constantly looking kit, I am in the midst of planning a trip with Teepee to Scotland which is gonna be excellent ( I must be driving him mad with all my questions lol) so that keeps me amused for a while each day!!

Its tough cause at the m I cant really walk too far, even though the hole thats left is only a centimeter deep, its still very sore!!

Tele helps, but as you can imagine not much, Im lucky that my kids keep me amused but even then I cant do a lt for them!! Ruddy useless lol!!

So how do you guys satsfy your urge to be out there in the wilds, or camping or climbing mountains etc when you physically are not able??

Iv had troubles like this before when I had major open surgery on my abdomin, but for some reason I didnt have the massive urge just get a pack on and get out!!

So come on chaps and chapesses, how do you get around it??

:vio:

All the best
Steve

Was it jeeps disease? paleionidal something? If so i feel for you had it several times my self but was lucky enough to get rid before operation time.
Get into craft stuff, woodwork, bowyery, leather work, whittling etc. If its bowyery you fancy a go at let me know.
Make sure your kit is all shiney for when you do get out and get some dates inked in to look forward too.

atb.

not read any other posts but sounds like a pilonidal synus? iv had 4 operations for this in the past 2 years and been bedbound for most of that time and had just about all the drugs and surgeons you could get. the last op they cut out enough flesh you could fit two fists in the wound its nasty stuff so beleive me i know how you feel!

just got to adjust and find something to occupy your mind so you dont go crazy. iv spent 2 years mostly reading and the last year learning leatherwork (most of which i do in bed when i cant walk haha)

if you want to discuss anything about it with my experience just fire me a PM. feel like a damn expert on this after all this time :lmao:

Spot on mate!!! Jeeps bum I think its also called lol!!
Bloody annoying aint it?? its my first one but apparently, and unfortunately you seem to have first hand experience, once you have had one your kind of prone to it!!

Cheers

I read the same, it was to do with the rock hard wooden seats and to compound things a complete lack of suspension.
Either way a pain in the butt literally. Not pleasant and a little embarrassing so good to know there are others out there.
Starting to sound like a mens health site this lol

Thats what put me off the opp, the fact the doctor said "well it sometimes works, i would say about 6 out of 10"

If any of you two want to start bowyery get in touch.
