YouTube has many videos of interest to Bushcrafters but sometimes it would be nice to be able to download the videos to watch later and without pauses.

This free utility YouTubeDownloader does exactly what it says on the tin. It is simple and quick and supports multiple simultaneous downloads.

Along with VLC portable you could play the videos from your USB drive.

I use the Downloadhelper firefox extension. It can also convert the files to AVI for viewing on mobile phone's etc.

Downloadhelper is a cracking programme. Also take a look at veoh.com there is a load of stuff on there just type in Ray Mears or bushcraft and a load of stuff comes up, more than youtube

You will need to install veoh software, its safe and simple then you can download the programmes you want. Most download as .AVI files so the quality is much better than youtube.

Another good free programme is dvdflick http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php

this converts .AVI files to DVD format for watching on your TV

realplayer automatically integrates itself to your browser so if its downloadable it will flag up a little message on the top of the picture box.

Downloads not only from Youtube but other sites with embedded video as well, you can save the files as .flv or .mp4

If you're not converting the files you'll need something that can view the swf (Shockwave) files. I use VLC media player.
