Not much mention of woods to use though - so I'd go with the obligatory Willow, Hazel etc - straight growing and if cut fresh, they'd have half a chance of lasting the actual roasting too.
A simple tripod at each end and a long spit should do the trick - though you might need some side skewers if you're doing a hog!
