I’m looking at doing my first wild camping trips in 2025 and would love to do it whilst making new friends.
I have done a lot of camping and some semi wild but now I want to try pushing my limits a little - building shelter, making fire etc.
I have camped alone and may do that this year but I thought it might also be a nice chance to meet similar people (I don’t know anyone else who likes the wild camping idea lol).
Anyone who wants to wild camp this year and make a new friend along the way?

Welcome to the forum @Wildanddigital

What sort of area are you based in (South East England is a big old area!) or are you looking to travel further afield?

Shelter building and fire making are only really suitable for sites where you have permission, given you'll inevitably leave a trace if you're wild camping and doing those activities (fire starting a possible exception if you're bringing fuel and ground protection like a fire bowl). That's rather against one of the core wild camping principles of leave no trace, or even better, leave even less of a trace of others by doing some litter picking while you're there. Does wild camping still appeal if you can't do fires and shelter building? If so, you may well find some suitable people on here.

Thanks Hugh. I know about leave a trace and will definitely do that. Just wondered if there were any specific places that allow fires and shelters. Still happy to wild camp even if it’s a tent and oven but for me that’s not proper wild camping so I’d like to learn the other bits including trapping somewhere some time. I’m in SE England so options will be fairly limited here but happy to travel for a few hours.
