Whistles

I think my kit was missing something, all the kit lists include a whistle, but my kit does not. Since we had lamb for dinner last night I decided to remedy this deplorable lack.

The smallest one is about 3 cm long, the longest about 6 cm

Detail of the opening in one of them, I went non-primitive and used a regular file (one with safe edges).

I pushed a piece of beeswax into the opening, and poked a hole.

I also plugged the end hole (more beeswax), but one can use a finger just as easy.

Some adjustments of the hole in the wax and loud piercing noices where heard.

A combination of lack of supernatural lung capacity and "sticktion". Never had a problem with that on any of the ones I've made.

You can also make them from moose toe bones, thus utlizing a plentifull resource for a fun use.

maybe whittle a bit of wood to the shape of the bees wax and push that in i got my son an owl whistle at the bushcraft show that does this and now i know the way it works i reckon ill have a go at making one soon
