It dies back to nothing pdq though, so it's only cover for a short while, iimmc.

I believe it's a good mineral accumulator - useful to slash & leave as fertiliser/mulch. I'll certainly try and harvest some. I wonder when they set seed?

I think you might do better to try for roots instead of seed; it's not only simpler, but the roots will come away quickly next year too.

I have the little yellow flowered one, not the Russian one, in my garden, it's easy enough to lift a few roots for you once the leaves die down, if you'd like them.

Old thread but finally got round to digging some up today. Cut the roots into chunks and buried in some bare soil that has been dumped where I've been digging out a pond. Fingers crossed!
