Same dilema I had....very nearly went for the F1 myself as it ticks all the right boxes for me although there have been noises on here recently about it being a bit difficult to sharpen. In the end I orderd a hand made Woodie clone off a BB member via eBay after a recommenation on here.

I meant to add I was going to wait for the new Spyderco but I just couldnt find any info as to when it was going to be on sale and how much so looked elsewhere (I appreciate these things take time).

Go for an Enzo, some of the best knives you'll ever use, and there's a convex version coming out this month..
Along similar lines to what Red and Simon have said - don't go thinking that a limited budget means custom knives are out the window. Some makers are ridiculously good value for what you spend, and you can be assured they've invested alot of time and care in it's manufacture.
A lot of knife makers don't make a profit on their knives, they just do it because they enjoy it then sell to cover the cost of materials. It's worth having a look around the makers here and on British Blades.
If it's definitely a production knife you're after then I can't really help as I don't own many good ones, but I've heard good things about the Skookum Bushtool. Not sure if that's within your budget though

The Enzo is the best knife you will get for £75, bar none, they are virtually customs as well as being some of the best knives around.

Lots of people will knock the F1, but personally I find it a well made and very capable knife. I don't find it difficult to sharpen at all and it stands up to wet conditions a lot better than most carbon steel knives.
£75 is getting close enough to consider a custom....especially one from over here as the exchange rate is greatly in your favor. I would not give up any of my Skookum's for any amount of money. They are a bit over your limit, and Rod has a long long wait list, but still it would be worth a look before you do a high end production.
Im glad welshwhit (just nearly had a very bad typo there with the second w for an s - spotted just in time though) started this thread because I was about to ask the very same question, I must admit I was very tempted by the F1, but seem to be swaying towards an enzo kit and trying a bit of DIY.

The blade is very thick and convex- some people like this though, also the handle is a bit thin for me and i don't like the synthetric rubber stuff, also the kydex sheaths are just HORRIBLE
Go to Brisa verloc and have a look at the range of Enzo's there.
Downsides of the F1, as Nathan said, thin handle, sinthetic handle which is OK but nothing great and the tang on the production F1 is thinner than on the custom Micarta versions.
Convex imo is not a downside but not as manageable as a scandi ground knife and not as useable because the blade is so thick.
The Enzo range of knives are much much better imo and cheaper as well.

I had the same dilemma myself; and you know what I would PM elma the maker who sells on here as I always think he offers great functional well made and very attractive knives at a great price

Just noticed that Brisa also do Enzo kits for about £44.35, which are basically the knife all made up but it just needs the handle shaping and the pins grinding down.
