hi all this is not meant to be a criticism but when some of you post a thread for a meet( example strinchar bridge 20th jan)
and no other info is it a closed meet as it sounds as if it is only for the chosen few if not where is the rest of the info, i have noticed this in a few threads for meets lately regards dave

Is it that some of us forget that not everyone knows locations from previous posts - I was guilty of that omission of info myself recently.
I forgot that not everyone read old posts on meet locations...

a google maps link would be handy in all such cases. I could even knock up a google map mash up of all the meeting places if people would be so good to post links.

Why not just add the Ordnance Survey grid reference and/or sheet number? That way at least we'd be able to find out where the meet is.

It could be a case of once you show a interest to attend the guy's in question will pm you the details, i a few years ago put up a invite to attend a beach camp,and a few guy's from here came along, stupidly though i put a o/s map of the location up and as anyone can look on this site without being a member,the beach in question has had alot of visit's since were rubbish has been left dumped after people have camped,from now on if i were to ask does anyone fancy a camp out id just pm those interested the details after giving only general details of the area in question.

The Sussex meet is open to all who would like to attend, just show an interest.

It's an open invite Dave as are all that are posted publicly by us up here.
I'm sure I speak for the majority.

Any limitations as to numbers,e.g. Hardly any parking space, are usually mentioned in the first post.
The Stinchar bridge meet has plenty parking.

Closed meets are usually done via pm among friends for whatever reasons they may have.

As said sometimes it's prudent to keep the location off the public thread.
