What wildlife did you spot today?

Some of our bees misbehaving during the week. I caught them on this occasion. Unfortunately they waited until I was at work second time around, so they’re definitely wildlife now!

A Grass Snake, hurtling across the path in front of me at warp speed. Black Mountains, BBNP. I stood quietly for a few minutes to see if it would reappear from the clump of grass and heather in which it went to ground. But, no luck...
Yeah. I think that queen was just determined to do her own thing. She left us a few daughters though, and we can add brood from other hives, so the remaining bees will be fine.
The swarm itself was amazing to watch. Haven’t had to catch one in a while - I spent ages just watching them.
A fabulous morning, sun bright and strong with a cooling breeze coming down the valley from the north, the Roe deer were in the barley, with Red Kites and swallows overhead.
Went on my first beaver watch last night to my local river. Saw lots of signs and tracks and was just about to head home when we were rewarded with a great sighting of Mr Beaver chomping on some willow followed by a wee paddle up river with a graceful flip as he disappeared under water. I don't think he had any idea we were there. Magical.
Emptying the last Dalek shaped compost bin (huge things, nearly as tall as I am) and a foot from the bottom I'm suddenly swarmed with bumble bees.
They've nested in the bottom of the centre core of dry-ish stuff

In the end I used the hoe and tidied up the edges of the volcano shaped lump in the middle, put the bin back over it and just left it in peace.

Not today, but yesterday as I was walking the dog.
A Kingfisher flying low and level down the river, then ten to twenty feet behind it and not in quite as colourful suite, a Dipper.
Then as I was thinking it couldn't get much better a Heron took to the air from the river.

A toad, some swallows and several families of nesting sparrows....

Big Red Fox in the centre of town ( Exeter ) patrolling its way through a car park. Beautiful end to a night and still light enough to see it properly.
Stopped for a brew on a trek through the marshes and spotted a bittern, heron, marsh harrier and sparrowhawk.
Marsh harriers seem to be thriving at the moment.

Yesterday, a mother and her 5 baby mergansers.
Pottering along the river, occasionally diving. Saw the mother catch a fish. Lovely to watch when they were so relaxed.

Does anyone know what this bird is please? it was at a ground nest site with a beak full of food for chicks. It would not enter the nest and reveal its location and waited until I had gone. Habitat was sand dunes. x
