What to do?

Hello Everyone! Only my second post so hope it's in the right place!

Anyway here we go, I want a Bushcrafty looking knife now I have thought of making one but I have several problems with that 1. I wouldn't know where to start to even source the materials 2. I wouldn't know what to do with the bits when I got them.

So an alternative is buy a ready made, one problem with that is I have seen the price of them

Can you get a knife and sheath partly finished that requires minimal assembly?And I mean minimal

I am looking to spend between 40 and 50 pound.(Left over Xmas money I asked for people not to get me the obligatory Socks and undies this year and ended up with one pair from my daughter for a" surprise" )

you could try a frosts mora,remove the handle and add your own..
if you mess it up its only a few quid,but they are good bushcrafting blades...

If this is your very first user bush knife, I would suggest a Frost or Eriksson Mora. Both are excellent knives, but they won't cost you a lot of money. Good starter knives, because beginning users can be hard on a blade and learning to sharpen can take a lot of practice. With what you have left over after buying one, you could buy a good book, or start putting together kit, etc.

Thanks to you all for all the advise but without hopefully offending anybody. I have looked at the frost mora and all though they are by all accounts a good starter knife I was thinking something more wood(y) and a leather sheath. As I said with minimal work. Also I forgot to mention I`d like a knife with a full tang most of the kits seem to be the scandi type. Talk about a fussy bugger you lot are probably thinking but as it will bein effect a present (all be it paid for by others but bought by myself) I would like to get something that I want otherwise I may aswell have stuck with undies and socks!

Hopefully you`ll know what I`m on about and no one will be offended by my ungratefullness.

Take a look at this one I think it might fit the bill. Full tang only needing handle scales to be riveted on and then treated with tang oil or whatever you prefer. I'm fancying one myself at the moment, but since I bought my last knife about four knives ago I need to think of a good reason first. It's at the top of your budget and you'd need to either make or buy a sheath, but these seem to be as close as you'll get to a specialist bushcraft spec knife for reasonable money. There are other makers that do kits so try a sniff around britishblades.

Twelveboar thanks for that !it's more or less exactly the style of knife I wantg for but £65 for a ground one and then I'd still need to sort out a sheath I realise you get what you pay for but I'm afraid I'll keep looking Me being the cheap git that I am but I really do thank you and appreciate your help and everybody else who has contributed!
