I just bought a boonie hat for wearing out in the woods and i want to waterproof it. I have had a read through and a bit of a search and i think waterseal is going to be the best way to do it, particularly as i have a tin in the shed. One thing though, does the smell fade completely? The stuff stinks to high hell when its wet and i dont want to be wandering around smelling like a petrochemicals plant. Whats the best way to get the smell off, and how long does it take? I guess most importantly, will waterseal work on 50/5- nylon/cotton ripstop?
