I normaly wear a leather hat in the rain, but due to one thing & another, was'nt able to find it on sunday, so wore my akubra(a stockman) while walking the dogs in the rain. This did get quite damp, so what due i di to waterproof it ?.

Thanks for looking, Rob

tasum, i've got some fabsil spray, so have thought about using that. resnikov, sounds like they do fine with out it.

Do absolutely nothing. It will get damp but it will not soak through unless you are in a downpour for hours. Do make sure you let it dry at room temperature though. If you put it near heat to dry it will shrink.

There are some excellent videos on youtube for care of Akubras. Once you're on youtube type "Care of quality fur felt hats: David Morgan Presents Akubra" It's just over 4 minutes and gives great advise (the waterproofing is at about the 3 minute point)

You can also go directly to Akubra's website (be advised they have several and if you go directly to their Australian website you'll get the best info)
