watches in the woods?

When I don't have to be on time for something, Bus, pick-up car or whatever I try to leave watches at home. It bugs me during the first few hours since I'm so used to checking the time at regular intervals but after that it's a relief.

I wear a watch to work most days as I have a garden maintenance round and need to be able to accurately tell when I have done the allotted time (or know exactly how long to charge for depending on the client). When I'm not working though I find it quite easy not to keep checking my watch. If I'm on a landscaping job where I'm there all day or at weekends I often don't wear a watch and live time free. I've found I can usually tell as accurately as I need when it is home time by looking at the sun.
Conversely when I'm out in "the wilds" I usually do wear a watch as I find it invaluable as a navigation tool to estimate distance travelled by timing. I do only really look at it when I need it for this purpose though.

My father gave me my 1st watch when I was 10ys old (a seiko auto bellmatic) and I've worn a watch constantly since then, the only time it comes off is when I'm in the bath or shower!!!!! I feel lost without one and can't imagine any reason for not wearing one. I'm fortunate to have a business where time is not an issue - just beacause you wear a watch dosn't mean you have to keep looking at it :D

I've never worn a watch. Mostly because I dont like things straped to my arms. Same goes for rings and necklaces. There are clocks everywhere you look. Really no need to wear 'em. When I head for the woods, I'm on MY time and I just dont care what time it is. I think you'll feel surprisingly liberated or naked and confused. Relax and enjoy.

I tend to wear a watch 24/7 ...but rarely refer to it unless I am on a needful timetable.
I have the ability to ignore the watch...but I feel naked without it!

Exactly that.

These days I tend to look at it more to work out which day of the week it is (they all merge when you don't go to work)
