"Leave no trace", hmm ... first taught by my father, continued in the scouts and finally pounded in by the military. Finally came to the conclusion that it is a good idea all by myself. But there are degrees and situations. A gas burner and a Kelly kettle leave about equal trace (none) if used that way but that is not the whole picture, careless trekker leaves trash etc. even if not scorch marks, upturned moss and trampled vegetation by choosing the wrong place for their coffee pause.
On the KK I would also leave the ashes in the woods if there is no danger of fire, natural fertilizer. On the other hand carrying them away does not really add any weight for a day trip.
