No youre not 100% sure!! But I am. I'll repeat it - Sandy doesn't take orders and doesn't have a 'list', it's100% pure luck to get the chance to buy one. And if you know how to mail him please let the rest of us in on the secret.
Who am I bashing??? I simply offered the opinion that a jacklore knife isnt a viable option - Ive been checking his web page for as long as I can remember and Never seen a knife for sale - try it now if you want to .
I did however 'trying to be helpful' offer a viable available alternative at a cost maybe but not much more than a jacklore which also sells at £300 to £350 depending on materials etc. And you wont get a Ben Orford for much less than £300 either, I have one on order from him right now which is closer to £600.
And how about a SWC Bushcraft? Dartmoor Knife have a couple available at reasonable prices right now.
Rubbish! Stop patronising me as if Im stupid. You said " I think if you mail him, he put you on the list"... whats that but taking an order???I never said Sandy takes orders. I think you do not know what you are talking about.
Let me tell you how I was able to see an available knife at least three times on his website, even though I was not even trying to catch one. Perhaps, you use this advice (which is not a secret by any means) and try not to be rude and aggressive towards others who are trying to give advice next time. You need to follow him on youtube and make sure you have your notifications turned on, so you get notified as soon as he puts a video on youtube. When you see the notification, go to his website, check the available knives section and there is an e-mail that you can use to contact him and state your interest in buying THAT knife. THAT is HOW you can get one!
No thats not taking order. When you see a knife saying available in his website, you send him an e-mail and he will tell you that if it is available. And if it is not, then he will keep you in his list and next time if something is available he would let you know. That's my understanding of his process based on watching his youtube videos. If you watch his videos you will see that he always mentions people who has the first right to turn down a knife. You said " I think if you mail him, he put you on the list"... whats that but taking an order???
Thank you for all of the advice guys. I am now sorted thank you.
Managed to purchase a Ben Orford woodlander, Ed Stafford edition
Hey Tiley,Good choice! I have one and it is utterly brilliant - a real pleasure to use. I hope that you enjoy yours.

How do you know its well balanced, perfect in your hand and razor sharp??Hey Tiley,
Thank you very much. Yes it is an outstanding knife! Beautifully made, well balanced, perfect in my hands and razor sharp!
I just need to buy the matching nomad now
Just tried that, thanks for the tip - nothing, but I'll keep looking. Also got 2 specialist high end knife dealers looking for me. Nothing so far either. And there's a big difference between getting lucky and picking up a S/h one and them being 'available' to order or buy. Ive even entered a charity raffle for one in aid of CRUK. Search rialobran on You tube and #Donate, you never know you might get lucky too.Using the search function, a member here bought two last year, so they’re hardly unavailable to those that seek.
Still, I did find a member here who bought two last year brand new direct from Sandy. Maybe it was his way with words and attitude?Just tried that, thanks for the tip - nothing, but I'll keep looking. Also got 2 specialist high end knife dealers looking for me. Nothing so far either. Yes. New but unused from someone’s collection. How do you know its well balanced, perfect in your hand and razor sharp??
I ordered one from Ben a fortnight ago and he's not made it yet, He told me they are individually made to order and take 6 to 8 weeks so I'm not expecting it until end of June. Did you get yours S/h from a third party??
Damn but you got lucky there! Its a beautiful looking knife isnt it? The blue liners and thread set off the sheath and handle material perfectly. I hope you get many years of happy use from it.Yes. New but unused from someone’s collection.
Yes I did get very lucky! Came with the matching firesteel too. Yes I agree with you on the colour combination. I like Ed Stafford a lot but my reason to purchase was not as a fan boy, but the combination of desert ironwood and blue is stunning I think. I want a matching nomad nowDamn but you got lucky there! I am. Most of your 53 posts here have been confrontational, some outright rude, so what I’m trying to say is wind your neck in. And this is from someone who also recognises this my own posts sometimes. Are you trying to say something??
