Im thinking of doing the waylands bushcraft weekend in november but not sure what trousers ill be needing!
Im guessing its going to be cold and wet so would like something "water resistant" at least and at a reasonable price? ?
Ive noticed sherwood forest do some plus ridgeline etc and theres some by pinewood-lappland I think-that look really good but theres no one by me that stocks them to see before buying :-(
Im not really into the camo thing either so I guess rules out a lot of surplus gear..
Or am I better off just keeping to my Austrian ripstops and using waterproofs and saving some cash??

Cheers!

Think you might have answered your own question at the end there. If it's really cold you could try some og m65 trousets with the button in liner (very warm) or there is a version of the old German 'mole skin' trousets with a thermal lining too, both green/greay, you could nikwax them for a bit of water repellency.

i love my hoggs of fife mole skins. ok, not waterproof but warm, very hardwearing, comfortable and not overly expensive.
I will admit to owning a pair of drop lined fjalraven barrents which i live in when i'm spending several days in the hills, i seriously love them but they aren't cheap.

I used to have a pair years ago but passed them on, not because they had worn out but because I had grown in the girth.

Swedish M59' trousers might be worth looking at. They're not insulated or waterproof but (to my mind) good at stopping the wind. No idea whether the material used changed over time but mine are from the 80's and are, iirc, 50/50 poly-cotton ~ so pretty reasonably at drying out. Double layered at the knee with both layers being articulated (thanks John :D ). I was impressed enough to get a spare pair ;) Oh, and Swedes seem to be a long legged breed! :yikes:

Pretty sure they were less than £15 ~ not bad for unused :approve:

Linky thing to visually similar item ~ http://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/swedish-m59-field-trousers-green-used/27549 ~ please note that the blurb states that the trousers in the link are "made of proper old school cotton". Mine are definitely poly-cotton; because the label says so!
