Evening peeps.
I'm sure it's here somewhere but only got my phone to buses at the moment . I've acquired some webbing strap from a member and I'm looking to make tree straps with a sewn loop on one end and progress to Msh . I use a hh expedition deluxe . my question is what length on average do you guys and girls have your straps for such a set up.
Cheers ade

four feet is good for many applications but for MSH use a little extra length is good thus the 6 ft "standard"

personally I use a UCR instead of a whoopie sling so no MSH needed and as a result I use a strap that is only slightly over 4 ft after sewing in the two loops - if the tree is bigger than 4 ft circumference its no big deal for me if a bit of the UCR is also touching the tree but it would be a major problem if I wanted to tie a marlin spike hitch in the strap for hanging a whoopie sling

Length depends on the size of trees you plan to hang off really, for most piney plantations 6ft are plenty, for some of the older broad leaf species I'd go with 9ft. I've even carry 12ft on recent winter trips to the Cairngorms.
