Growing amongst ash, beech, birch and sycamore in NE Scotland.

Didn't have the camera at the time so no pics of tree or berries.

Berries were green and hard, possibly as yet unripe. A bit like a big haw or rowanberry. Very pippy.

Leaves just on the turn.

Leaf smells kind of appley.

I thought we were too far north for whitebeam. I'll take the dog out again. This time with a camera.

Yup, Def a whitebeam. And yes, they do grow up your way. Granted, they won't grow as large as down south but i've seen them in Sweden as lovely specimens, and its even colder over there!!!
