Dreadhead

Bushcrafter through and through
Here's some pictures of some of my traditional kit.

I'm slowly transitioning my kit to the early medieval period, with the intent of spending longer periods out in the Scottish countryside in Pictish kit to test it out. At present my kit is a mixture of everything, but as long as its natural wool, canvas, leather, for now I'm happy

Beautiful kit!
I am aiming for natural material but pretty modern styling...though I have some medieval stylee kit as well (pouches and firelighting kit mainly) - I am a machine sewist not a hand stitcher!

Aye there was 30 hours of hand sewing in my nettle tunic. Don't think I want to go through that marathon again

Where did you buy nettle fabric?

Isn't flax the stronger option?

You should try out a sheep skin as insulation mat. That works very well if you keep it dry. I used it for years in winter times.
But of course a sheep skin coat would be better.

I've only tried equipment as early as the 20's-40's so going full medieval will be interesting, and probably not great when you get wet but due to your own hard graft you will look good:D

Love the kit!

What does it weigh though? Looks heavy. But perfect for car camping. I would be too lazy to carry that any distance.

weighs less than when i take modern kit i can tell you that. when i go traditional, it forces me to carry much less which i like, even if most items are a bit heavier. with a modern pack i keep chucking stuff in until its 20+ kilos.
i'd say totalling about 10-15 kilos for this depoending on food/water im carrying. I don't really do much car camping, always prefer a good walk in and i can manage this just fine :)

That’s great! Looked like a heavier load than that.
