Now he's got it, i can show my latest pouch that i made for my Father in Law for his birthday yesterday. Made from 3.2mm chestnut dyed veg tan, waxed and coloured inside and stamped with one of Kerne's great leather stamps.
It's 5 x 5 x 2 inches and fitted with a Sam Browne stud.

Unfortunatley, thanks to the total cruddiness of the leather, it doesn't take stamping well unles you belt it with a 2 lb lump hammer. Which i wasn't going to do to one of Kerne's stamps
Thankfully it's the last of the big pieces of chestbut leather and now i can move onto some decent undyed veg tan :D

Thanks for looking

It's a nice pouch, he's happy with it and it's got me a couple or semi orders from the relatives, but it's an absolute bugger to work with and is just horrible.
However, if you sand the chestnut out, soften it up, wax it and redye it you can end up with something like this:

But that's just too much work ;)
