the dartmoor meet

hi all went to the dartmoor meet on friday through to saturday at ivans place got there about 12,30pm where ivan and andy bruce were waiting to help me with my gear, as they know the old legs are not as good as they were,
when we got to the site the usual suspects were gathered around the central fire,adam,fox,badger
&tommy there lad.
as always ivan had the toilets set up in various places and a big tent for emergencies.he has done a few things since i was there last he has now got a central area undercover of canvas for trying out skills that anyone wants to pass on though on friday the weather was glorious come saturday that all changed to drizzle on and of all day .by that time more people had arrived ie,darren paul/paul/savagewolf/bernie/saul/john juna/youngsters ben &evette/darrenkard133/joel/bushwacker&his mate dave they brought cider yeh/freddyfish and of course ivans daughter kate and some french people that i never met and probably some others that ive forgot, forgive me bad memory. ivan had taken the time to organize a walk on the saturday, several people went but they had to cut it short due to the weather the rest of us did a bit of spoon making in the big tent .
during the day andy bruce got the hangi pit fired up for the three legs of lamb that ivan had brought in various flavours and fox had prepared a beef stew with proper oxtail yum yum yum.
so about 6,30 we all got stuck in to lamb beef stew and thick chunks of bread.
i had to leave then as my daughter had lost her grandmother on the wednesday and wanted me around on the sunday/monday. family first and all that, all in all as usual ivan made everyone welcome usual humour as always, and i must thank andy bruce as he kindly carried my gear back to the car for me. its a shame i was the only welshman at the meet as you could not find a friendlier bunch of people, its not that far out of wales and if the french can get there? thanks again ivan and fox for the fantastic food all of you for the good company regards dave

Hi Dave

you were sorely missed my friend when you left on saturday but the weather did not get any better, the french contingent were sent on their way safely and Andy Bruce did a little show and tell an Bow Drlls and various fire lighters.
I think the weekend was fantastic and a great many new friends were made
i look forward to seeing you again at the next meet.
