Mmm... having investigated how much that carboy would cost to replace I am reluctant to try and drill into it even using a diamond drill and water :(

Maybe, I could make one with it lying on its side and the wire going through the neck.

Yeh, I am looking at that. But, the idea of creating a little miniature waterfall really appeals :)

I've just successfully drilled through a glass bottle with my diamond bit; I think if I fill it with water to conduct any heat it should be OK.

Think I’d be wary of drilling it as well!
Could you not run the cable from the top, behind the waterfall and camouflage it?

Question regarding the ones that have Mushroom spore concealed inside.

If its a ( mostly ) sealed unit and getting ambient heat - any speculations on how the Blooms of Fungi may present itself ? How often? How long? I mean , its a nice thing to do and I guess the fungi blooming is icing on a cake - just wondering if that sort of environment would be good for fungi spore?

The mycologist I had recently visit my wood said that no one actually knows why or when fungi will fruit - although there are pointers (warm damp days etc.) they are unpredictable.

The water absorbs vibration. It’s possible to cut thin glass microscope slides with scissors underwater.
