Found one.

I range the local brewery and asked them if they wanted it back

and they were well pleased.

no deposit on the thing, though.

Im miffed and the keg is still sat in my garden.

Am I being wrongheaded over this or should I hold out for a six pack?

(and failing that, has any one any interesting projects for it?)

I think Bardster is right. I would hang on to it and I'm sure you will eventually have a good use for it. I've seen one cut in half and used as a huge pot for making soup. Worked well. A local farmer has a couple he has cut in half and put them out to hold water for his sheep. Keep thinking!

I would imagain that they've already charged whoever lost it. Don't worry about it - it was the prior owners problem and they'll have to pay for it. Either return it to where you think it came from and barter yourself a free night out or say that the pixies ran off with it and turned it into a forge :lmao:

Are we talking about one of these:

If so, I wouldn't bother with either of the above ideas.
We have loads of the things at work. The brewery is in no hurry to get them back.

For ebay it would have to be buyer collects, in which case I imagine they would just go 'collect' their own.

I would suggest either find a use for it yourself or give it back.

hmmmm negotiations with the brewery might be interesting as I think you'll find that the Keg is already their property legally (you might find it stamped with "Property of A Brewery Co." or similar) in which case you aren't in much of a bargaining position! You might recall that there was a fuss over bread trays (those plastic things that are used the bread delivery lorries) that were going missing and an amnesty was declared by the bread companies - I know for a fact they were ready to follow up with legal action for those people who hung onto to them (God only knows why you'd want one anyway!). So I wouldn't expect much from them, in fact I'd probably just put it back where I found it! Now empty propane bottles..... ah... Forge material!! :D :D

Maybe I'm being old fashioned but I think you should just do the decent thing and return it to its rightful owner.

Regarding the six pack, why do people feel they should be rewarded for doing the right thing? The reward should surely be the knowledge that you've helped this brewery out...

Just my opinion.
