Finally finished a sycamore teaspoon blank I've had for goodness knows how long :dunno:

Sanded finish, oiled with walnut oil then baked for 3 minutes at 190degC to seal the oil in as suggested by Robson Valley. It certainly seems to have worked so I'll be using that method again in the future

Really pleased with how it's come out, if truth be told it's probably the best spoon I've done so far :)

See? Nothing like some practice. The left/right symmetry is good as is the signature tag carving at the tail.
The oven baking process is Charles' Law of Physics in action, certainly not my invention.
Just nice to know that you can't wash that oil out in boiling soup.

I'm very impressed, Mesquite.... I haven't tried the sanded look, but I sure like it on some of the spoons I see, including yours.
