I recently received a 35L ruck (external frame) and I am looking for information/pictures on how to add a waist belt and modify the shoulders straps with more padding. I would appreciate anyone sharing their other modifications as well.
Thanks

The straps at the top are attatched by "dog clips" and all they do is dig into your shoulders. I don't envy the blokes who had to use them in the Falklands, carrying massive weights. Some blokes used to tape pipe lagging around the straps.

Cheers, Julian.

Neil1 has done some extensive mods to his Swedish 35L. I tried it on at the Dartmoor meet and it's very comfy.

Padded shoulder straps, padded hip belt and back padding.

Neil1 has even "threatened" to do a tutorial :D for his mods.

I hope so as I want to get mine done as well.

Yep me too. I have made a few mods myself and I was talk too him and the WG but he was really busy so I had not time to look at his pack. A couple of detailed pictures would do wonders.

Well my Soldier 2000 Engineers Jerkin arrived this morning in preparation for the tutorial :D

For those that find that statement confusing, Neil-1 used the mesh back off one to cover the hip belt and should pads, looks really good :D There is also a couple of lovely green leather panels to find a use for.
