Does anyone have any experience of this particular garment, good or bad? is it worth the money? I know about the drawbacks with Paclite specifically and Goretex generally when out and about but I am toying with the idea of getting one of these and would like some feedback and/or guidance. Prime use? Keeping off the rain...

Many thanks.

Richard

I have one. For Paclite it's very thick and robust and has a (very) slightly poly-cotton hand to the material. I don't think it's the same Paclite that you see on Berghaus Paclite jackets. I wouldn't go thrashing through gorse in it but for normal outdoor use it's fully tough enough, and it packs down small, unlike the Tahr, Wapiti, Norrona Recon, etc etc. Hood is well designed and does up very well, also laying open well. It's steeply-priced for a Paclite jacket but superbly made. It's a good length, unlike many outdoor jackets today. The design makes a lot of sense for canoeing, which is what I mainly use it for.

I think it makes sense if you want a Swazi garment and a bushcrafty-looking goretex smock. If you want a high-performance, subdued-colour, outdoor jacket, then something like a Mountain Equipment Ogre in Grey/black is probably cheaper and better-featured.
