I own that particular knife, though I never use it, it's more of a collectors piece to me.

I would agree with Eric to be honest. Every time mine comes out of the cupboard the first thing I check is the safety. I even periodically take it out of the cupboard to check the action and the safety are still working properly.

That's why my mom took my switchblade away from me as a child. Seems the USN never took that advice. While I can see ditching the standard issue Camillus/Ontario fixed blade survival knife, I really can't see why it should be replaced with an automatic folder. Must be something to do with where USN bases are located. May get in a gangfight after hours or something.

I know it is a pain with any equipment, but it really is rule 1, specially in the armed forces with all sorts of pointy / shooty / explosive things.

Not really a lot more to say on this is there ?

hehe, but then, if you are dumb enough to regulary land on a carrier in a plane i believe not checking the safety on your knife is the least of your worries. :lmao:

all fun aside this is one of the many examples that shiny things tend to bite you if you handle them with lack of respect.
