Nice thread Stu, I see your really going for it. Can't wait to see the results :)

Thanks, I ve spent some time looking into the Challenge, as I think its a good time to get back to the very basic basics... as you could call them, I quite enjoying it as well, its interesting how little you really need, and how simple people used to live, I will continue to post what I come up with as I delve deeper, I still have a few questions that I need answering no doubt they will lead to others..

I am really looking to this challenge and I know that the Suffolk Guys intend to do it as full as they can, I know I was speaking to one of the guys that have done it the other day, and he found the food/equipment no trouble but the mental thing and the making the camp chores as such work because we now have it too easy...

It a guy from Essex, Think Mushroom Carver is his name on here, for example the getting the water ready the night before, for the morning cuppa, as mostly we have clean fresh water to hand, not very often do we filter, boil then store, now most of us just take a big jerry can, open the tap and boil sort of thing, all little minor things but things that a lot of us dont do any more.

And of course the change from Boil in Bag to the Mountain Man type food some will find hard, as BIB is so easy and lazy

Cheers for that one Stu looks like a very site.

Didn't want to come across as not being keen to use traditional historical kit but you know how it is with spending on stuff it does get somewhat out of hand sometimes, and I'm saving up for a family holiday for next year and a Wing Chun dummy

should open the food options a nice amount

Yeah it should, I do like the idea of making that Kettle.. may be one day.

I have found references to a Food Quiver that the mountain men used, it derives from an Arrow quiver as far as I can find, I have found a couple of pics picture of two that were made, but can now only find one, the other one was a hessian one with a linen liner, and a leather Strap... found it at work on the www. will try to find it tomorrow and re-post
