It wet and windy here in South Lanarkshire. The canopy over the back door/kitchen windows has just lost it's clear covers. The brackets are still soundly attached to the wall, but the sheets have gone. Planters all over the place, and the trees are, thankfully not in leaf, blowing around wildly.

We'll hope that's the worst of it.

Has anyone got winds forecast in the 30 mile an hour range.
All the predictions for Shropshire are either 20’s or 40’s.

Well a bucket was rolling around a little on the front lawn. I went out andf picked it up and went back inside to work. My partner took the dog out and it was actually blowing hard by the railway station. Some tall trees were swaying badly so perhaps it was right to shut that line down on Thursday afterall.

It also goes to show how lucky we are in that our house is so well protected from the winds that you'd hardly know there was any wind! Hill at the back, houses either side. The only open sideis the wide front but the wind direction is so rare it can mostly be ignored.

Kicking off here now. Really gusty at times, hard to stand gusty.
Got intermittent power issues and stuff that monitors the incoming power is not happy. UPS chirping and Solar Panels complaining. Isolated them as were tripping parts of the house.

Neighbour at end of next block has just lost the back edge of his roof. The tiles just came fleeing off and have crashed down into the gravel in his back garden :frown: :sigh:

Gosh, stay safe Mary! (And others up north) Very calm and boring here, though I've spoken to my friend seoni who said we did get a lot of wind and rain last night...I was asleep and oblivious to it, though it obviously wasn't as bad as the last storm as my fence, which got damaged in the last storm a month ago, and is only propped up, stayed put.
Stories of problems elsewhere around and about, but we are relatively sheltered here in the valley. More to come on Sunday I'm told. Staying prepped and ready.

What storm? Been working on an open house-build high on the side of the Thames, bit of wind and rain normal, put up a 3m high unstayed chimney, still there.
Home today and all the newscasters are getting in a froth about some unpronounceable Storm.

We've been getting some strong gusts all day, but nothing major. Its blown a few wheelie bins over but that's about it. Calming down now.

Meanwhile up here, and in Northern Ireland, the trains, buses and ferries were all cancelled. Schools were closed right across the country, hospitals cancelled all appointments, over 100,000 homes are without power, and we have substantial damage to property and woodlands.

Eh Oh Win or Ah Oh Win if that's the way your accent works.

My partner led me to thee frront window and asked me if the house opposite and a bit along the road was missing something. That was this morning. We are in a bungalow that is above the garage on the side of a steep hill so our "ground floor at the back is effectively about 1 floor up at the front, plus a bit of a rise over the bunagalows opposite that are mostly ground level.

So lookiing out and down on those houses we identified what was missing. There was an extension being built over there and there has been some kind of issue such that no progress has beeen made for a month and a bit. So the extension consisted of a block on the back of the house with a gable end that was not attached to the rest of the bungalow by rafters yet. Well today there was not gable end showing and something else wass missing too but we can't place our finger on what it could be.

That could have been a bit dangerous all the same.

Not just Scotland, No trains running north of Prestion in the NW or Newcastle in the NE. In Cumbria especially more western areas the schools were also closed. Our kids school left iit up to the parents whether their kids go in or not. Ours went in!!

Sorry to hear of those having a hard time. It's been thoroughly unremarkable on the East coast (I've been working outdoors).

I do see all those downed trees as "oh look - firewood"
