same here, i cant fault a single person ive dealt with yet.

my problem is going to look for a specific item, but chancing upon half dozen others whilst lookin. how much of a bargain is something that you never even considered, til you happend upon it on ebay?

and those last few minutes are kindve a buzz

This is the reason why I post on the excellent service I recieve from the companies with whom I deal.

Perhaps we could have a Company/Trader Feedback thread to inform members and guests of customer experience, with response from the Company/Trader posted in the event of 'issues'.

Payment by credit card gives greater protection, the card company reimburse the payment.

Then there's Trading Standards!

Regarding the Jack Pyke gear.
Jack Pyke state that they do not supply for internet auction sites, this is (one of the many!) reasons I don't sell Jack Pyke on eBay. So either this chap is selling against agreed terms or is sourcing them elsewhere.
Just my tuppence.

That seems like a proportionate response for some missing string.

ebay advises a ten day wait period before taking action which he would have had the day after I enquired where my string was.

Registered Post does not get lost, as such, so when I am quoted a 1 - 2 day delivery time I expect it WHEN I AM PAYING FOR IT.

At the end of the day it is not just a piece of string. Nope, it is my £5.00 that he has taken without bothering to send me WHAT I HAVE PAID FOR.

Added to which, as an ex-plod I remember having to deal with and open case files for 'Theft of Milk Bottle from Doorstep', value of item 25p. I personally do not like people taking the micky with my money or other peoples money, ask yourself how many times this joker has managed to get away with his shoddy treatment of people who want to part with their hard earned money.

There is a psychological disconnect that some people have with ebay, "Its online therefore it is not real money". Online traders suffer from this disconnect also which is why some give a poor service. Facts:

1. Most Police Forces have at least one officer, if not a department, dealing with online crime,

2. 1% of credit card transactions, this would include paypal as paypal is linked to credit cards, result in some kind of bank led investigation. Of that 1% of transactions 99% are directly linked to online transactions. Daily there are several million transactions in the UK alone, scary isn't it. This info is openly available but I have regular updates from my wife who is a Director in a Major credit card company.

3. If a trader does not supply you with the item paid for he, or she, can be charged with theft. Which is easy as the accounts they use make them emminently traceable.

4. The trader in question uses a third party link in to paypal which requires superfluos data to be given online. This link was, shall we say, wobbly. That rang an alarm bell as to identity theft and account cloning so I actually rang ebay on day one to warn them that I may be launching a report and complaint to the Police within the 10 day period. They were happy with this.

The only point I'd argue is that Registered Post gets lost in just the same way as any other post, you just have a method of proving that an item was sent. I expect the rest of the points are true.

You're obviously still very angry about the issue as you're shouting points in capital letters.

I understand that you and the OP would quite understandably be unhappy at not receiving your goods. I would be unhappy myself.

When you made your complaint to the seller, I guess you were unaware of any other people who had had similar problems. Things happen. What if a family member had been taken ill or died or the seller had had a serious accident and was unable to post your string? Would you really feel happy about threatening him with the police for theft and threatening his livelihood/home/family life?

There was an incident on here recently where the seller had an accident and was unable to post goods out. I would hope the buyers here didn't use the same methods as you've mentioned.

I just think it would be easier and less hassle just to ask for your money back by means of a paypal dispute.

Paypal and ebay ask you to attempt to resolve an issue yourself in the first instance.

Bear in mind that my alarm bells had already been rung by his somewhat dubios third party plug in to paypal and my subsequent phone call to ebay.

My first email was polite and enquiring.. no reply....I do understand sympathy, empathy and the fact that someone may be suffering problems.

My second email was a tad more to the point, again no reply.

My third email went for the jugular.

The fourth finished it and got me the goods the day after, simple.

At the end of the day all of that would not have happened if he were a reasonable person and provided the goods and services he had accepted money for.

Sadly the world has its share of people who would attempt to take advantage of other people and they should not be allowed to get away with it. And, being non-confrontational, by using other parties to resolve a dispute, does nothing but pander to those people who would take advantage.
