So, I live in Belfast, N. Ireland, on Monday evening I bought a couple of items from a local seller on eBay. He duly delivered them to a post office counter on Tuesday morning, service used was RM 48 Tracked. This morning my phone 'binged' with a message from Royal Mail, expecting to see a message telling me what time they'd be delivering, I opened it only to read that my package is "on its way" from the North West Superhub, Warrington, Cheshire. Estimated delivery - Tuesday 23rd. It has been my experience that sine the Windsor Protocol RM parcels from GB take a day longer than the estimate, so I'm not really expecting it until next Wednesday. The post office that the seller used is four miles from my house. I didn't think that at my age my ghast could really be flabbered, but Royal Mail managed it! I actually just sat for a couple of minutes with a bemused smile on my face wondering, how?

Four items have gone missing since the mail to Shetland has been routed through the Glasgow sorting office. This is in the last year. I had 20 years of only one package go missing when the packages went through Aberdeen sorting office. One was a stropping paddle - envelope opened, paddle removed. This was replaced by the vendor. A couple of Amazon parcels have had one item each removed, which Amazon replaced. A precious item is still being investigated by RM that went missing in the Glasgow sorting office according to the tracking. Went missing early September 25 and the RM are dragging their heels. Several of my Amazon packages have been torn open enough to see the contents, but the order was complete when it arrived with me. So much for privatisation improving things.

Clearly some thieves inside Glasgow sorting office. Have you seen those vids of exploding dye/noise etc packages used to catch out doorstep package thieves? No idea how to do it though, and probably illegal to scare a thief..
