Spring ... At last!

This forsythia is usually well over by now. It flowers for us by early Feb and often in Jan, even when there's been snow. This year it has only just bloomed. We're that far behind!

Still, it seems the jet stream has moved back north again, for the moment. I was delighted to hear the weatherman on Channel 4 News talking about it tonight. And he actually said it the warming of the arctic, the melting of the ice there that changes conditions so it sank to the south of us for the first part of this year. No guarantee that it will stay North though with the polar melt continuing ...

I'm further south than all a yas & spring is sorta coming in dribs 'n' drabs this year, it can't quite kick into gear.......a few swallows have arrived but there are no flying insects around so even if they do survive, their chances of successfully rearing a first brood are pretty slim.
The weather forecast said it would be 12 ° C today,.................5 ° in the morning & 7° this afternoon
