Splitting satisfaction!

Such a good feeling when that final split is done. All by hand using a hammer and wedges.

A not very exciting video of the final bit of hitting - yes, some old table legs in use - I had run out of big wood for wedges and wanted to do a 'big push', and I had snapped the sledge hammer handle already!

It's destined to hopefully become a bench! Lots more work to do yet.

A table leg. Its a single piece of beech so suitably solid.

I have only been splitting elm lately and it just hangs on all the way rather than that one one satisfying pop.

That looks fun. I'm fed up with splitting. 10 cubic metres in the last couple of weeks. It gets dull!

The end is the fun bit. The previous three mornings of tapping wedges in,making a new gap, adding another wedge, etc does get a bit tiring.

Good for the soul though.
