Hi there

Read your post of Geronimos speech, its a great one.

I would warn you, many on here equate bushcraft with camping + a bowdrill. Few are into the real paleo-arts or any of the spirituality associated with it. Its an annoying thing i found, as i am very much into the broader aspects of bushcraft, and actually practising it, as oppose to sitting on my sofa accumulating tents and stoves...A more accurate name would be SurvivalUK, but c'est la vie.

If you haven't already, have a look at http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/ seems much more broad yet much more detailed.

Enjoy,

Are we feeling irked then ?

Palaeoplanet is well known to the members here, and it is no one else's place to comment on another's spirituality, and certainly not on a site which clearly asks for no religious discussion.

''First they came to take our land and water, then our fish and game....Now they want our religions as well. All of a sudden, we have a lot of unscrupulous idiots running around saying they're medicine people. And they'll sell you a sweat lodge ceremony for fifty bucks. It's not only wrong, its obscene. Indians don't sell their spirituality to anybody, for any price. This is just another in a very long series of thefts from Indian people and, in some ways, this is the worst one yet.''

(Mods, if this part of my post is off the mark, let me know. I think it's important but am happy to edit at your discretion:))

I always think that there are at least two sides to a thing and if I'm only seeing the one, I'm just not seeing the other.

No need to be annoyed Soul72; there are some genuine, real people on this site and everyone has something to offer. If you've no use for a certain plant say, you walk on and leave that plant be.

Foot races and running are a part of Southwestern Native culture. Racers are celebrated for their speed, but only during the race. The winning athlete is not placed on a pedestal nor celebrated in any way as athletes are today. Every member of a community has an area or talent where they are the "best". To merely celebrate the strongest or fastest is to deny one's own talents, and to my mind, a serious flaw of modern society.

I was sat here reading and re-reading this, wondering if i want to put my head above to parapet, so i'll get ready to duck ;)

This exchange looks like it might be posting at cross purposes.
Souls post looks to me like a quote from a pm, and not personnel comments.
I could be wrong.

I do not want to be down or discourage anyone but I would like to offer some friendly advice soul72, it would be handy to quote sources in any further posts to help avoid and confusion.

But if I got the wrong end of the pineapple......... sorry.

Damn, I thought I'd nailed it. I thought Geronimo was Cherokee not Apache.

Its a lovely quote though if you are into that sort of thing.

Wynn have you actually read the guidelines for posting on this forum ?
We make strenuous efforts not to discuss religion in any colour, hue or complexion.

Personally I'm with Pratchett on this one :D
