Finished these willow baskets today. They are made from fresh willow shoots so they will probably shrink and go all loose but its good practice anyway.

This watertight water container took a long time and a lot of spruce resin to complete but it was all worth the effort. For my resin mixture I use a combination of resin, animal fat, bees wax and powdered charcoal. I applied the resin a little at a time as i was making the basket. To spread the resin and melt it onto the inside surface propperly i heated a stone on the fire and put it inside, when you swish the stone arround it melts the resin instantly. Hope you like it... (someone on here told me about the heated stone trick so thanks very much!)

Fastastic! Your basketry skills are wonderful and I've loved every basket you've shown.

Out here in California, native Americans made waterproof baskets exactly as you have done here, right down to the hot stone.

Great work.
