Anyone want to share an order and one delivery price on willow for basketry ? We could get it delivered to the site and split it there ?

http://www.willowgrowers.co.uk/specialoffers.php

Basically add on a couple of £'s for the delivery per bolt/ bundle.

2kgs is a lot of willow to play with.

cheers,
Toddy

Hi Mary,i'm just back from a week on the road,i would also chip in for the Willow, how many bundles were you thinking about?

Also are we going to have a communal cook up,if so what do you want me to bring along,or would we just bring stuff along and see what we could knock up.

Hi,
I'm thinking of coming along with my wife and two children aged 4 (boy) & 7(girl).
I was just wondering, is anybody else bringing young children?

Hi Ford,i will be bringing my youngest,Sophie shes 12,and she pleased as punch because shes getting a day off school

Cheers Stuart.

I'm wishing I'd explained myself a little clearer on the willow

To teach basketry, willow that soaks quickly is the easiest. The stuff called buffs, which is a boiled and peeled willow is ideal.

The rods that are on special offer are browns. They still have their bark on and while they make very natural looking baskets they need three or four days to soak to make them pliable.

I was thinking that if we got one order delivered it would save a fair bit on postage but it would mean that we could take home our share.

How about we leave the willow for now, and I see about organising another weekend just for basketry, and maybe hurdle making ?
It can easily take a whole day to make a basket, especially if folks are just learning.

If I bring along the buffs I have, we could maybe do some of the tension trays, corn dollies and the like this weekend, maybe some of the rush work ? I have some brambles stripped out.........and I know Stuart's done coiled baskets :D We could maybe do some of that too.

Still happy to organise a willow order if folks want, it was only this time because the browns were on special.

cheers,
M

I'm with Mary on the Willow thing as i'm starting to get the feeling that we may be biting off more than we can chew, after all Rome was'nt built in a day :D

I also think it might be an idea to may be start a list of names,so we get clearer picture of whos coming to the meet up,as its getting nearer the time.

OK i will start. Please add your names.

I've a spare bicycle puncture repair kit Stooboy, I'll keep one in my GS Bergan for you just in case. :)

Been years since I've seen anyone fix a Li-Lo, any chance you can take it to Comrie and fix it "LIVE"?

Liam :lmao:
