Seven Ages of Britain

Any body been watching this? The second one was on last night on BBC1. I think its fantastic, really interesting and well presented by David Dimbleby.

Wouldn't you just love to go back 700 years to see what the landscape was like in this country, and see the bushcraft knowledge folk had?

Cant wait for the next one.

I enjoyed it but missed the first one...
I was told by a friend they concentrated on the period when rome occupied England in the first episode, if that is the case then i was a bit annoyed how they manged to skip 1000 years from 350AD when the Romans left Britain to the 1300's...

I know they touched on Arthurian legend briefly last night but the 100 yr gap would of covered 1066, the legends that were Robin Hood and Arthur, the period of Britain when druidasm challenged Christianity (and unfortunately failed)

But apart from that i thought it was very enjoyable... I particularly enjoyed the sword and think the Germans should give us back our crown!!!

Druidism was wiped out by Julius Caesar. Whatever pagan beliefs and practices re-asserted themselves between the end of Roman occupation and the re-introduction of Christianity, they almost certainly weren't "druidism", whatever that actually was...

Personally, I'm annoyed that they decided to skip the first three or four ages... The Seven Historical Ages of Britain might have been a better title. I think Bettany Hughes' Channel 4 series of the same name did a better job on that score.
