Scotch / Barrel Eyed Augers

I want to get a 1" scotch eyed auger but the only ones I can find are a bit too expensive for me. I had hoped to pick one up on eBay but no joy.

Anyone know a supplier that has some reasonably-priced augers?

Seems £50 is about the going price for a Clico brand.

Yes - that's a bit outside of my budget unfortunately. I'll have to keep my eye open at car boot sales I guess.

Thanks Hugo - I'm not sure that I have got much worth trading, but I will have a rummage in the man-cave and see what I can find!

Although its a fair bit bulkier another option is a 1" Jennings bit in a brace. You see any number on carboots and flea markets for a few quid. I've also seen bits of tube welded to Jennings bits to make them able to take a wooden stick handle.
