Hi All
do any of you clever smiths out there make a copy of Anglo Saxon purse mount strike a light? I can do the copper and leather bits for a tinder purse but just ain't set up to do the actual steel part (I do have a bunch of worn files I've squirrelled away for steels)

ideally, depending on price I'm looking for two, one for the lad, one for me.

Cheers!

Thanks for the input folks.

heres a couple of links to nice original examples

Most probably the flap of the tinder pouch would have a slot for the buckle to pass through and there would have been a strap end hanging down from the belt although I've seen a drawing that had the buckle well buckled to the end of a strap coming off the pouches flap so the steel acted like a dangling weight keeping the flap down, it don't look right at all.
