Just spent a relaxing evening making a sheath for my Christmas present - A Bahco Laplander saw.

It's made from 2.2mm (nominal) veg tanned leather, held together with waxed linen thread. For now it's closed with some knotted paracord, but I have a toggle on order from ebay to finish the project

I need to tidy the edges up a bit at some point, but otherwise am quite happy.

Now to go dress the inevitable leather working wounds...

That's a nice sheath, what sort of toggle are you putting onto it?

For now I have ordered one of the adjustable slide ones like you get on a draw cord on a bag. In time I may replace it with a natural item, and the paracord with some trollen weave cord. But for now, this will serve.

Nice job fella well,done

Not a fella, but thank you.

Great work! Are you going to dye it?

I am undecided. It's pink now, but over time it does tend to darken in colour. I may leave it to darken of it's own accord, or I may dye it, I am undecided.

Thanks

Julia

Be very careful my friend, leathercraft is very addictive :D Great job

I realised this a few years back, I started making small items for reenactment use, Now I am having to buy whole hides of leather at a time, and am looking for things to make next...

My garden secateurs are looking in need of a melt sheath now...
