I am not making sami style sheath anymore. I made them because they look so nice. But even with wetforming in regular heavy use the sheath take quite a lot of cuts on the inside (I never make plastic inserts).
So from now on I only make belt looped flat Ray Mears style Wetformed 3,5 mm welded sheaths. They never failed me and lasts for years. The only extra effort is that belt loop and stiching and making a perfect fitting welt. I think 1 hour extra work but worth it.
Tomorrow I will wax this sheath.
