This article in the local paper is about the rescue of two jungle surveyors after being lost for five days in the Borneo jungle .

They were surveying a pipe line to pipe gas halfway across Borneo which will have detrimental effects on the fauna and indigenous people.

The nomadic Penan are constantly rescuing the very people who, by the nature of their work will eventually destroy their way of life and culture. In fact they will probably cease to exist as a separate people eventually.

Their gene pool will continue in other bloodlines as their women are often being raped by the loggers

Its a shame their hospitality will do them no good in the long run. But lets not forget a way of life and culture is destroyed by missionaries as well. I used to date a mormon missionary, they had no concern for the culture of the people they converted. Mormon and catholic missionaries are hugely active in these areas.
