Just finished this. Its been a long time in the making and the would-be recipient has been waiting a very long time for me to make him something. Thanks for being patient!:You_Rock_

6 inch blade and a handle just over 5 inches. Flat ground with a convex edge from 3/16th O-1 stock. Tapered tang, Tufnol and black liners all held together with stainless bolts and shafting epoxy.

The handle appears long, but it has been made that way and is intended to work with hands my size, not just great mitts.

The length alows you to take a grip right at the back to increase the ability to chop and swing cut.

That's a really nice knife Chris.

Just one question on it... what's shafting epoxy?

Its the stuff designed for gluing the heads onto golf clubs. Although some places just use regular Araldite, there are dedicated adhesives which are designed for gluing metal to synthetic and withstanding loads, impact and weather. More expensive though. This stuff is black in colour and sets in around 60 minutes. I was using stuff which needed 24 hours to harden (as opposed to developing full strength) but they had run out. I got on to using this type of glue after reading the "Glue Wars" threads on Blade Forums and CKD. They tested and abused a bunch of adhesives that people use for sticking handles to tangs. The shafting epoxy was the best one that is available in the UK. The very best was a Loctite epoxy which appears to have no equivalent in Loctite UK's range. Prior to that I had been using Devcon 2-Ton and a similar product by NHP (NPH?) but the Devcon got slated and I have never used it since.

Interesting... thanks for the info. I'll have to have a look at it

I now have this in my hand. I ordered it last year, but due to my finances I asked for a delay.

My word!! What a knife. For those of you who are patient and of a mind for a fantastic custom knife for, what to my mind is an extraordinarily good price then Chris is the way to go. He is also an absolute gent and the knife has increased in intrinsic value to me because the process has been such a great experience.

The knife is an anthropometric dream, all the positions are great to hold and the 'chopping' hold feels particularly secure considering it is a half hand grip. To my great shame I thought about selling this knife before it arrived as money got a little tight. I don't think you will pry this from my cold dead fingers.

I have a plan to get another knife from Chris, with a (hopefully) similar lead time, as well as just one more from Stu M and a Guycep EDC folder. I am starting to reach my happy zen place with knives now and have all that I could want.

When I make the overcoats (leather and kydex) I'll post pics, but excuse me whilst I go for a fondle....
